Women in the national security system – conference in Tarnów with the participation of representatives of the Polish Armaments Group

On May 26 this year, a unique conference entitled “Women in the national security system – challenges and prospects”, was held at the I.J. Paderewski Music School Complex in Tarnów, devoted to the role of women in structures responsible for national security. The event brought together a large group of experts, representatives of state institutions, the military, universities, and key players in the defense sector. The conference provided a space for substantive debate on the actual place of women in areas of strategic importance to the state and an attempt to answer questions about how to effectively increase their participation in activities related to defense, technology, and public safety management.

The main topics discussed during the panels included: the need to strengthen the presence of women in the Polish Army, the growing role of women in the defense industry and technological innovation, and their importance in special services and internal security institutions, as well as the participation of women in academia and scientific research on security. There was also discussion of systemic barriers, stereotypes, and opportunities to overcome them through effective equality policies and the development of career paths for women in sectors considered “traditionally male.” The voices of representatives of the defense industry, who are actively participating in the transformation of this sector towards greater openness and professional use of diverse competencies, were strongly heard. The panels featured, among others, representatives of companies belonging to the Polish Armaments Group: CENZIN sp. z o.o., MESKO S.A., Zakłady Mechaniczne “TARNÓW” S.A. The presence of female leaders representing these companies confirmed that women not only function successfully in the defense industry, but also contribute to its future through their skills, experience, and innovative approach to management. The conference in Tarnów became an important voice in the nationwide discussion on the role of women in shaping national security. It also emphasized the need to further open up professional spaces to women's skills and ambitions – both in the public sector and in the defense industry, where it is not only strength that counts, but above all professionalism, commitment, and strategic thinking. The event was held under the patronage of the Ministry of National Defence Republic of Poland and the Defence24 portal. The event was organized by the GROM - Strength and Honor Foundation.
